Anna 's Biography

Anna Bjurstam has always been dedicated to wellness, and has worked in the business for 22 years. Together with her hands on expertise in wellness and a Master Degree in Business, Anna has successfully led Raison d’Etre Spas to become one of the leaders in the spa business. 

As Owner and MD of Raison d’Etre, Anna has become the guiding light for an ever-growing company of globally-placed professionals in world renowned spas such as Amanpuri, Taj Exotica Mauritius with the Taj Spa concept created by Raison d’Etre, Four Seasons Doha, Capella Singapore, Atlantis the Palm and many more. From initial contractual negotiations, creating tailor made business solution packages, working closely with architects and interior designers to create award winning spas, her grasp of every aspect of spas has earned her a deserved reputation as a Master of Spa.

Raison d’Etre has specialized in individualizing the spa for the hotel, creating something truly unique, with that special feel only to be found at this exact place. Raison d’Etre opened November 2009 their first own spa the Grand Hôtel Nordic Life Spa, by Raison d’Etre, in Stockholm, Sweden, and its concept and brand is now to be implemented worldwide. Raison d’Etre is also partners and on the board in the Joint Venture with Kempinski Hotels; Resense, developing their spas.

As Vice President of Spas for Six Senses Anna’s task is to develop the Six Senses Spa brand and grow it for the future expansion to come. Anna is a founding board member of the Global Spa Summit, an invite only nonprofit event held yearly together with the Aspen Institute. Anna is now or has been working with companies such as Four Seasons, Amanresorts, Kempinski, Ritz Carlton, One & Only, Kerzner, Capella Hotels and Taj Hotels, designing, conceptualizing and operating more than 90 spas in over 60 countries.
